Damsel In Dis Mess

I met Patty at a party in Escondido in September of 2013. I had just returned from Cabo and was helping my family deal with our Stepmom Louise who had just been moved to assisted living after a Stroke. Patty was a joyous, vibrant woman when we first met, a month or so later she was looking for a new place to live and I offered up my place. We moved her lock, stock and barrel into my place consuming all of my garage space. We were having a great time until somewhere around Christmas when she poured out most of her "life story", disclosing her current financial situation, disastrous! In January she took over my second bedroom (ending our intimate relationship) and I lent her some money to help her keep going. By February she was looking for more money, working decorating jobs for my neighbors and I was unable to assist her anymore that I already had. She finally got a job in March and started paying rent, we were no longer a couple and she was working via phone out of my place, a small office I setup in my Lanai (back enclosed porch). By May she had made promises to pay me back and move out as soon as possible, I was very frustrated with the situation and was dealing with the last month of my brother-in-law's pancreatic cancer, he died at the end of May. Patty and I were in Breckenridge, CO when Dan died, I had been with him the day before we left and he was not doing well so it was expected. Patty and I had planned the trip in December when we were still a couple, she wanted to visit her daughter and granddaughter who lived in Boulder and I had a Timeshare trade available in Breckenridge, so we booked it and I stood by the promise to take her there and celebrate that time with her granddaughter, which turned out to be quite a great time, until Dan died. She finally moved out in July, after much ado, and paid me back most of what she owed me. It was a life lesson for me, but honestly I wouldn't have missed it for anything, the highs were amazing, the lows were frustrating and the in between was fraught with drama, life at it's craziest.
