Don't Have To Sing The Blues
A band mate challenged me to use the neck more, I was pretty much a first position player. I think about that and realize it was due to the cheap guitars I played mostly, if you went up the neck it was out of tune and hard on the fingers. Fortunately I was playing a nice Guild at the time and I started messing around with bar chords. I found a minor 7th (I think) run and blended in some jazz chords I remembered, started thinking about how good some relationships had been, especially at the beginning. A couple of hours later I had it completed, and I really liked what I had done.
Don’t Have To Sing The Blues - Douglas W. Fielder
Since I met my baby, it’s been nothing but good news…
Since I met my baby, I don’t have to sing the blues
You know she makes me feel alright…
You know she comes around every night…
And in the morning there’s a smile upon my….
Smile upon my face…..
You know my baby, found a way to make me high
You know my baby, got me looking at the sky
I used to look down at my shoes
I guess that’s why I always sang the blues
But now I happy when I’m looking at her…
Looking at her face……
It’s a simple recipe…
A little sugar, can’t you see…
When you cook it up it’ll be just right…
We’ll be smiling til the morning light…..
Since I met my baby, there’s something new for me to play
Since I met my baby, I feel the sunshine every day
Just like eating eggs and steak
Got a spring in every step I take
There ain’t nothing gonna make me change
The way I feel today…..
It’s a simple recipe…
A little sugar, can’t you see…
When you cook it up it’ll be just right…
We’ll be smiling til the morning light…..
