This was written after one of my breakups with Vicki, I was distraught but I knew it was the end for us. Even so I felt as if I could somehow turn it around and continue what I had been yearning for. She brought out the "man" in me from the start, I had lost or given up that part of me during my marriage and once I discovered it was still there and someone wanted me, I was smitten, enamored, in love with that feeling of being what someone else needed.

In that moment as I watched you walk away
I was sure that I could make you want to turn around and stay
It was hard enough to lose you but no words just broke my heart
Guess I always knew that we would break up from the start
I hope you’re happy now, yes I hope you’re happy now.
That you’re free, yeah you’re free.
Truth is something that demands a lot of you.
Just because you say it’s so, that doesn’t make it true.
You were always leaving from the first day that we met
Guess I would have known it if I’d only let.
You be you, You be you
and I’ll be me, and we’ll be free….
Another Lesson left to learn
Another path I had to take
Sometimes nothing in return
I hope we learn from our mistakes
You know it’s a good that my heart is made of gold.
Any human tissue would have frozen in that cold.
You were almost perfect in your lack of sympathy.
Now I understand why we were never meant to be.
I hope you’re happy now, yes I hope you’re happy now.
That you’re free, yeah you’re free.
