Right Here on Skid-row - Douglas W. Fielder

I remember grade school, junior high and high school too
I remember all the great things that we used to do.
Thought I’d never make it babe but they pushed me through
Now I realize that all they had to say was true.
Finally graduated girl and what do you know,
I ended up right here on Skid-row

They taught me A, right down to Z, now tell me how much knowledge can there be.
The taught me plain geometry, they even made me analyze the trilogy
They gave me books and told me “read”.
I asked, just how much of this reading will I need?
They told me, some day you’ll be freed, then they showed me how to take apart a centipede.

Yes I remember grade school, junior high and high school too
I remember all the great things that we used to do.
Smoking in the bathrooms, playing frizbee in the halls
joking in the math rooms, writing words on all the walls
I finally graduated babe and what do you know
I ended up right here on Skid-row

I’d raise my hand to take a leak, they’d look at me as if I were a freak
And if I missed a class or two, they’d ask me what it was that they should do (they know all the answers)
And if I looked like I was stoned, they’d call my old man on the telephone.
He’s smoking pot, he’s smoking hash, wait until they find out about his stash

Oh I remember grade school, junior high and high school too
I remember all the great things that we used to do.
Thought I’d never make it girl but they pushed me through
Now I realize the all they had to say was true.
I finally graduated babe and what do you know.
I ended up right here on….I ended up right here on…..
I ended up right here on Skid-row……
