Shelter Dog Woman
Shelter Dog Woman - Douglas W. Fielder
I met her through the internet, she answered my ad.
She sent a little picture, she didn’t look too bad..
Crouched between two dogs with her shades and her hat.
It said, “If I sparked an interest, then baby let’s chat”
She didn’t send a number so I sent her mine
She called and talked a little, she sounded just fine.
She told me where she worked and what she liked to do.
I said I liked to get together if she wanted to…..
She’s a shelter dog woman,
She’s a shelter dog woman,
She’s got herself a job, she’s got herself a car.
She’s got a little place, it ain’t really all that far
I’m not sure that she won’t but I’m not sure if she will
I guess that finding out is what makes it a thrill
Decided we would meet and she picked restaurant row.
The Market Street Café, a place she liked to go.
We ordered appetizers and some glasses of wine
I tried some of hers, and she tried some of mine
We talked about our jobs and the weather and stuff.
We talked and talked and talked until be both had enough.
She went to use the restroom and I paid the bill
She never came back, I guess she’s in there still.
Well she’s a shelter dog woman
Yeah she’s a shelter dog woman
Guess she was looking for a free ride but I won’t complain.
She’s not the first one, you know it’s always the same.
My brother always tells me to meet for coffee first
It a whole lot cheaper and you still quench your thirst!
Shelter Dog Women…..Shelter Dog Women…
