The girl in my rearview - Douglas W. Fielder

(A) I was riding down the 101 feeling kinda blue
(A) It's Friday night and I'm just looking for something to do
(D) You took off three months ago
(A) And it just ain't been right
So I'm (E) out here looking (D) for some fun (A) tonight

(A) There's a thousand cars and a thousand bars but nothing seems to click
(A) There's a women on the corner there but she's just turning tricks
(D) When suddenly I see you in the
(A) corner of my eye
in my (E) rear view mirror (D) as I'm passing (A) by

(E) Oh the girl of my (D) dreams is(A) just a car away
(E) I just gotta (D) figure out how to (A) make her stop today
(F#m) Lord I need a (E) helping hand I (D) don't know what to (B) do
Then the (A) light turns red and she (E) just cruises (A) through....

(A) I can see her taillights turning right a few blocks up ahead
(A) When the light turns green I gun my truck just to get ahead
(D) I pull into the right hand lane
(A) and make the turn alright
but the (E) street is dark there's (D) not a car in (A) sight

(A) I hit the gas and look both ways at the first cross street
(A) There's no tail lights either way and I really start to freak
(D) Right on the next corner
(A) there's a funky little bar
(E) and I see her as she's (D) walking through the (A) door

(E) Oh the girl of my (D) dreams (A) just walked into that bar
I pulled (E) over to the (D) curb and (A) jump out of the car
(F#m) I didn't pay (E) attention to the (D)sign there on the (B) door
I just (A) walked right in and (E) looked around the (A) floor

(A) She was standing near the dance floor and I thanked the Lord above
(A) I was sure that he was helping me to find my next true love
(D) I was ready to go up to her
(A) but I didn't get that far
I (E) realized I was the (D) only guy who was (A) standing in that bar

(A) I got a little nervous and I edged back from the floor
(A) Another group of women was coming in the door
(D) I saw the sign as I walked out
(A) Said "Ladies Only Please!"
I (E) crossed the street and (D) fell down on my (A) knees

Oh the (E) girl of my (D) dreams she don't (A) even go for men
It's a (E) crazy mixed up(D) world (A) that were livin in
(F#m) I got back in my (E) truck I (D) started out (B) and then
I(A) made a mental note not to (E) stop by here (A) again.....

Yeah the(E) girl of my (D) dreams is (A) still out there somewhere
with (E) perfume on her (D) wrist and (A) curlers in her hair
and I (F#m) really hope I (E) find her when (D) I come out (B) again (might be awhile)
And I'll (A) say a prayer that (E) this time she likes (A) men....
